Corey Norman finger incident video, ban, charge, Super League Toulouse Olympique, Warrington Wolves, John Hopoate, eight weeks

Former NRL star Corey Norman has been hit with an eight game ban and a £500 fine for allegedly trying to stick his finger up an opposing player’s backside.

Norman has been charged with the Super League’s harshest ‘Grade F’ charge which carries a minimum eight-match ban under the terms of ‘other contrary behaviour’.

The 31-year-old pladed not guilty to the charge but has since been ruled out for the rest of the season.

According to Sky Sports, an excerpt of the ruling labels Norman’s actions “intentional”.

“The footage of the incident shows a deliberate movement of Corey Norman’s left arm and hand over the top of Oliver Holmes and on to his buttocks,” the ruling reads.

“At no point does the footage show a grabbing of the shorts to push Oliver Holmes down as described by Corey Norman.

“The footage shows a deliberate placing of Corey Norman’s hands and fingers on the buttocks and coupled with the immediate complaint from Holmes, the reaction of his team-mate Danny Walker and the statement of Holmes to which we have measured regard we are entirely satisfied that this was an intentional placing of a hand between the buttocks of the opposing player and we find the charge proved.”

The allegations, reported in UK’s The Sun newspaper, comes 21 years after the infamous NRL case involving John Hopoate.

Former St George-Ilawarra and Parramatta star Norman was caught on camera reaching between Warrington Wolves’ Oliver Holmes’ legs and was soon placed on report following the challenge.

It’s not the first time such an alleged incident has occured in the English competition.

Former Manly Sea Eagles winger Hopoate stuck his finger up three North Queensland Cowboys players in 2001.

The NRL suspended the former Kangaroo for 12 games, one NRL official detailing Hopoate’s actions as “disgusting, violent and offensive.”
