Sarah Palin Rumored To Be in Fiery Romance With Ice Hockey Star

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who also appeared as “Bear” on The Masked Singer, has been much in the news of late. After coming to New York City to have her day in court against The New York Times in a COVID-delayed defamation suit, and facing criticism for putting restaurant workers at risk by dining out after testing positive for COVID-19, Page Six now reports that she is “hooking up” with retired New York Rangers star Ron Duguay.

The tabloid—which does, indeed, make a Zamboni joke—reports that the two have been an item since late last year, according to sources, and that Duguay was Palin’s dinner companion in the heated, curbside structure at Elio’s on the Upper East Side on Wednesday night. Elio’s is the same restaurant that allowed Palin to eat inside prior to her testing positive but without proof of vaccination a week earlier.  In New York City, restaurants are supposed to check for proof of vaccination before seating someone. “In accordance with the vaccine mandate and to protect our staff, we seated her outdoors,” Elio’s manager told news outlets of her second visit.

When a photographer approached Palin, Duguay, and others at Elio’s and asked about Palin’s positive COVID test, Duguay’s cross-checking instincts kicked in when he reportedly asked: “Are you looking for trouble?” Duguay then seemed to knock a camera out of the photographer’s hands in a video of the incident. According to the New York Daily News, “law enforcement sources confirmed … that officers responded to a verbal dispute at Elio’s that involved Palin, and that the situation was resolved.”

A Palin source told People the pair are “just friends” and “met through hockey.”

Palin’s love of hockey has long been part of her origin story: She has dubbed herself a “hockey mom” since she spontaneously generated on the national political scene in 2008.

After 30 years of marriage, “First Dude” Todd Palin filed for divorce against the GOP celebrity in late 2019, citing “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.” The divorce was finalized in March 2020. The couple have five children, including Bristol, known for appearances on television programs such as Celebrity Wife Swap.

Duguay is known for being one of the last holdouts in the NHL against wearing a helmet. “I liked the way I looked without a helmet, but more than anything else it was the comfort. I feel confined when wearing a helmet. It’s annoying to me. I don’t wear hats. I don’t like anything on my head,” he is quoted as saying in the Hockey News

Page Six, reporting on the flying sparks, noted that: “Reps for Palin didn’t get back to us and a rep for Duguay declined to comment.” V.F. has reached out to both parties.
