‘Severance’ star Adam Scott recovering from COVID in Costa Rica

Adam Scott missed out on a screening of the finale of his hit show “Severance” because he was stuck in Costa Rica recovering from COVID-19.

“Hi everybody, I am so sorry I can’t be there tonight to celebrate ‘Severance’ with you all,” he began in a pre-recorded video ahead of the screening, which took place at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on Friday night. “I am stuck in Costa Rica with good old COVID.”

“I can’t even tell you how bummed I am to miss this,” he said from a seemingly stunning hotel room. He went on to thank the show’s director, Ben Stiller, and creator, Dan Erickson, along with a host of other people.

Stiller also introduced the Apple TV+ show — which follows a group of employees who work for a company who have “severed” their work memories from their personal lives.

“First of all, it’s Patricia Arquette’s birthday today,” he told the audience, joking, “She likes to do things like this on her birthday … She’s the most amazing person.

He added that Scott, 49, tested positive for the virus and wasn’t able to come back into the country.

During the Q&A following the panel, moderator Judd Apatow quipped that if everyone looked as good as Scott did with the virus, no one would get a vaccine.

“That is the lightest version of COVID I’ve ever seen,” the director joked. “If you aired that on TV no one would get a shot ever.”

Cast members Christopher Walken and John Turturro also missed the event, but Arquette as well as Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus and Yul Vazquez were on hand for the intimate screening.

Patricia, David and Rosanna Arquette
Patricia Arquette’s siblings David and Rosanna were on hand at the event to help celebrate her birthday.

As guests made their way out to the reception to drink and eat waffles — a reference to the show’s coveted waffle party — Arquette was serenaded by guests singing “Happy Birthday” and presented with a cake. Arquette’s famous siblings, David and Rosanna, were also in attendance.

In August 2021, Scott revealed he previously had COVID-19 in February.

I” had covid feb ‘21, luckily not hospitalized. Only way to describe is…run over by a train then placed under a hovercraft for 10 days? Wouldn’t wish upon anyone. 1st Moderna shot: nothing. 2nd: felt kinda shitty for 1 day. No comparison. Get the vaccine. Please,” he tweeted at the time.
